Dorothy went to be with our Lord on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk, surrounded by her family.
Dorothy Ann Reigle was born July 26, 1932, at rural Norfolk to David and Minnie (Lovell) Miller. The youngest of seven children, Dorothy spent her childhood in the Enola, Nebraska area. She attended Enola and Warnerville Schools, graduating from Madison High School in 1950. Following graduation she worked for WJAG radio station. She met the love of her life, Kenny Reigle, and they were married on October 5, 1952, at Newman Grove Methodist Church.
The couple began married life and farmed northwest of Newman Grove until fall of 1957 when they moved five miles southeast of Madison. Their four children, Carol, John, Julie, and Connie were raised on the family farm. Dorothy was a devoted, loving and nurturing mother. She earned a reputation as a wise and respected farm wife working alongside Kenny to build Reigle Farms (currently Reigle Cattle Company). A day in her life consisted of bookkeeping, cooking, working cattle, communicating with sale barns, packing plants, and truckers while caring for her family. In 1975, Kenny and Dorothy moved into their Madison home while continuing to work on the growing family farm and feedlot operation beside their son, John.
Dorothy loved her family and gladly babysat her grandchildren. Some of her favorite things included picnics, watermelon, family reunions, Sunday dinners, holiday traditions, coffee, jigsaw puzzles, reading, embroidery, attending cattle sales with Kenny, casino outings, grandchildren activities, shopping, sending greeting cards, Christmas gifts, and birthday presents. She served her church, Madison Trinity United Methodist Church, as Sunday School treasurer and faithfully helped with funeral lunches for many years.
Survivors include her four children, Carol (Bob) Rotherham of Norfolk, John (Jeanne) Reigle of Madison, Julie Reigle of Lakewood, CO and Connie (Rory) Weidner of Madison. She was loved by 10 grandchildren, Robin (Kent)Matthes, Carissa (Brian) Husbands, Ross (Michelle) Rotherham, Jennifer (Brian) Stone, Andy (Alison) Reigle, Jesse (Tristan) Weidner, Jami (Justin) Maxey, Jeremy (Kayla) Weidner, Jordynn (Ryan) Luettel, and Jaci (Gage) Rethwisch; two step- grandchildren, Jessica (Craig) Bender and Jason Harper; 27 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one step-great- great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Dona Lee Lutjens and Carola Reigle; and several special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny in 2016 after 63 years of marriage; her parents; siblings, Ernest (Ethel) Miller, Lucile (Allan) Meyers, Howard (Ileane) Miller, Margaret (Arvid) Sunderman, Gerald (Helen) Miller, and Bill (Nadine) Miller; and great-grandson, Gabriel Joseph Maxey.
