Dorothy Rembish Obituary

Dorothy Ann "Dotty" Rembish of Bryans Road, Maryland

A fighter to the end, she persevered like a champion. Sadly, although her spirit was strong, her body was tired and on April 6, 2025, Dotty passed peacefully into heaven with her family by her side.

Born on March 1, 1933, the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Casper-Witkowski, Dotty grew up on Kado Street in the Parsons Section of Wilkes-Barre, PA. She graduated from Coughlin High School in 1951. On October 6, 1956, Dotty married Stanley Rembish, also of Kado Street, and the newlyweds soon departed Pennsylvania for a life-long adventure with the United States Marine Corps. Their career took them to Marine Recruit Depot Parris Island in South Carolina, where Stan was a Drill Instructor. They later spent time at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and finally at Naval Ordnance Station, Indian Head, Maryland. Their Marine career was achieved through their dedication to God and country. Dotty handled most of the background details, not only for Stan, but for many of the Marines with whom he served.

Dotty helped many a new Marine recruit survive Parris Island. She had many sleepless nights helping Stan and the new recruits polish boots and brass buckles and making necessary repairs to uniforms before the next morning's inspection. She truly loved being able to help the struggling and tortured new recruits in some small way. Dotty spoke of it privately and proudly many times. No one ever knew of her secret midnight efforts except her, Stan, and the Marine recruits who survived the next day.

Once settled into life in Indian Head and then Bryans Road, Dotty managed a household, three active children, and a husband who was often deployed. She drove the kids, along with half the neighborhood, to-and-from school, sporting events, numerous practices and whatever else life brought her way. Dotty prided herself in her commitment to her family and being a homemaker. Dinner was certain to be on the table at 5:00PM, and her home was always immaculate.

As a life-long crafter, Dotty loved trying her hand at all sorts of projects. Some of her favorites were sewing, knitting, ceramics, and cross-stitching. She was always happy to assist others with their crafting projects. Not only was Dotty a dedicated wife, mother, and friend, she was a supportive member of her community. She was a school and church volunteer for many years and an anonymous donor to several causes. Dotty made countless numbers of receiving blankets for newborns in need, knitted comforting prayer shawls used during times of illness and bereavement, and cancer caps for individuals undergoing chemotherapy. Dotty brought comfort to family, friends and complete strangers.

Dotty was a wonderful and loving wife and mother who is survived by her husband of 68 years as well as her daughter Susie Rembish-Moughan and favorite son-in-law Jack; sons Chris (wife Sandy) and "Bucky" Rembish. The greatest joy of her life was being the grandmother of Randy and Joey (wife Caroline), Megan, Rhiannon and Meghan. As well as three great-grandchildren Reagan, Brooklyn and Grayson. Dotty was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Patti Rembish.

Dotty and Stan recently moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, so that they could begin yet another life adventure with a little less house and yard work. Dotty was a loyal wife, great mom, fun-loving Grammy, and caring friend. She is, and will be, deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Inurnment will take place at a future date at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.
