Dorothy Ann Shaw, 90, a cherished soul who graced this world with her presence, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 in Sioux City, Iowa.
A Rosary and Vigil Service to honor and celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday,June 15th, 2024 at the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at the Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
Born on December 19, 1933, in Elwood, New York (Long Island), the daughter of Charles and Sophia (Rothka) Ancewicz, Dorothy's life journey was one adorned with love, kindness, and grace.
In her formative years, Dorothy received her education at St. Phlip Neri Catholic School in Nortport, NY, laying the foundation for a life filled with wisdom and learning.
Throughout her life, Dorothy touched the hearts of many with her compassion and gentle spirit. Her memory will forever be treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of love and family. She is survived by her son Robert Charles (Meta) Shaw of Culpeper, VA; daughter Sandra Lee (Kevin) Walker of Sloan, IA; granddaughters Caroline (Lawrence) and Bianca; and great-granddaughter Ivy.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Shaw Jr. on February 28, 2015, her parents Charles and Sophia Ancewicz, and her sisters Elizebeth Sauter, Louise Bennett, and Sophia Ceceri.
Rest in peace, dear Dorothy. Your light will continue to shine bright in our hearts forevermore.
