Dorothy Lea Simmons, 92, of Stow, passed away on December 28, 2025. She was born on October 18, 1933 the daughter of the late Ira and Pauline Spencer of Junior, WV. She was a woman of faith and was a member of Mission Baptist Temple of Stow. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School for 50 years. She also was involved with different Missions all over the world. She delighted in showing everyone her beautiful flower garden and her vegetable garden. In her later years, she would look after the squirrels, birds and her cats, Max and Harry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles (Bus) Simmons, her daughter Sharon Delaney, son-in-law Dan Davis and many other loved ones. She leaves behind her children Allen (Lori) Simmons, Dianna Davis, Bill Delaney, Nancy (Joe) Simmons, Brian (Dan) Simmons, and Norma Payerle. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters Melba (Carl) Ice and Jean (Jim) Norcom.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron 44305) where services will be held at 12:00pm with Pastor Ryan Gilin officiating.
Interment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
