Dorothy Ann Sipes, age 90 of Cherokee, IA, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025, at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee, IA. Graveside services will take place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Good Hope Cemetery in Correctionville, IA. The Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.greenwoodfuneral.com.
Dorothy Ann Sipes, the daughter of William and Hulda Walker was born October 21, 1934, in Holstein, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Holstein where she received her education. Following school, Dorothy worked caring for kids and also worked at a café.
On July 8, 1956, Dorothy was united in marriage to William Sipes. They made their home in Cherokee, IA, where she worked from home helping raise their children.
Dorothy enjoyed fishing, traveling, and going to casinos. Most of all, she loved the time spent with friends and family.
On Friday, August 29, 2025, Dorothy passed away at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee, IA, at the age of 90. She was preceded by her parents, William and Hulda Walker, and one sister, Mary Cooper.
She will lovingly by remembered by her husband, Bill Sipes of Cherokee, IA; children, Lila (Howard) Nelson of Cherokee, IA, Marsha Steward (Joel Rupp) of Washta, IA, Susan (Steve) Reid of Harlan, IA, Jerry Sipes of Cherokee, IA, and Don (Terry) Rapp of Texas; one brother, Kenneth Walker of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
