Dorothy (Conklin) Sousa was born on March 28, 1928, in the bucolic village of Roosevelt, NY. Along with her siblings Viola, Eddie, and Frank she was raised by her loving parents Anna and Ed Conklin, and had a happy and idyllic childhood. She graduated from Hempstead High School before meeting Bob Sousa, the love of her life, to whom she was happily married for 55 years. They soon bought a lovely home in Seaford and lived there for 60 years. A devoted mother to her daughters Diane and Suzanne, to son-in-laws Rick Savior and Glenn MacPherson, she was blessed with 2 granddaughters, Jessica and Katie along with their respective husbands, James and Ryan , and 4 great-grandchildren - Ethan, Mac, Lucy and Polly. She was also a beloved sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend. Dottie will be remembered as a woman with class and grace, with a smile that showed the joy of the Lord within her. She lived a long and very happy life. May she now rest in peace with loved ones in heaven.
Dottie's life will be celebrated on Sunday, November 23rd from 2-5 PM at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home. 3863 Merrick Road, Seaford, NY 11783. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Bob on Monday, November 24th at 10:30 AM at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
