Dorothy Ruth Spears, 73, of Conway, departed this life Saturday, May 13, 2023 in the comfort of her home. She was born in Ringgold, Louisiana on February 12, 1950 to the late Ollie Mae Collins.
Dorothy was a hard worker who worked in law enforcement for many years before retiring after 20 years of service from the Department of Finance and Administration. She was a God fearing and loving woman. She was very family oriented and enjoyed cooking as well as gardening and was a beautiful Christian.
She is preceded in death by her son Trenton Spears; husband Vernal Spears; mother Ollie Mae Collins; sister Patricia Collins; brother Milton Collins; aunt Betty Jo Garner; and her best friend Alice O’Neal.
Survivors include a son, Gemayel Lamar Spears (Rachael Howard) of Conway, Arkansas; granddaughter, Alexis Spears of Little Rock, studying at U of A Fayetteville; sisters Ella Theus (California); Carolyn Ann Collins and Rita Collins (Ringgold); brothers Terry Collins and Bobby Gene Collins (Ringgold); and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, May 19, 2023 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral is 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest with both her late husband, Vernal Spears, and her baby boy Trenton Spears, at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
