Dorothy Spencer, a beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on October 5, 1941, in Lamar, Mississippi, Dorothy dedicated her life to education, church service, and nurturing her family and friends.
Dorothy was a proud graduate of Fayette County Training School, a foundation that fueled her passion for lifelong learning and growth. Throughout her impactful life, she was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she began to cultivate her deep faith and commitment to serving others. She later united with Anderson Grove M.M. Church, where she served as Church Secretary for an impressive thirty-five years, playing a vital role in her church community.
Dorothy was known for her warm heart and generous spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. She will be intimately remembered by her brother, Ewell Mason, Jr., who cherished his sister’s loving presence in his life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Annie Mae Mason, and her stepfather, Ewell Mason, Sr., whose legacies of love and strength continue to resonate through the lives of those they touched.
A funeral service to honor Dorothy’s life will be held on January 2, 2026, at Mabone Funeral Home located at 1435 Teague Store Rd, Somerville, TN 38068. The service will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by a time of reflection and remembrance.
Dorothy Spencer’s legacy of faith, commitment, and love will always be cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
