Dorothy Sullivan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maryland Cremation Services on Jan. 14, 2026.
Dorothy Ann Sullivan, 66, passed away on December 15, 2025, in Beltsville, Maryland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Lois Sullivan, and her brother James H. "Wedge" Sullivan. Dorothy is survived by her beloved nieces, Annie and Maggie.

Born on March 15, 1959, in Birmingham, Alabama, Dorothy graduated from Huffman High School in 1977. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting from the University of Montevallo in 1981.

She was a woman who loved deeply and showed that love through her unwavering devotion to family, friends, and those fortunate enough to know her.

Dorothy was a devoted sister to her brother, James "Wedge" Sullivan. Their bond was lifelong, marked by loyalty, humor, and a deep connection that meant the world to her. She was also a loving and proud aunt to Annie and Maggie Sullivan, who were her pride and joy. She showed her love in countless quiet ways-by always showing up, cheering from afar, and caring deeply through every stage of their lives.

Dorothy was cherished by her friends, coworkers, neighbors, and extended family, many of whom became like family over the years. Her kindness, warmth, and genuine heart left a lasting impression on everyone she met, and she will be deeply missed by many.

She had a special love for rescuing cats, cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, and honoring the family members who had gone before her. It brings comfort to know that she is now reunited in heaven with her brother, her mother, and her father-together again and at peace after more than 60 years.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Jennifer Garshell, whom Dorothy loved like a daughter, for lovingly caring for her cat, Poppy, and ensuring she continues to be surrounded by love.

Dorothy will be remembered for her compassion, loyalty, and the deep love she had for her family. She will forever remain in our hearts. The family asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
