Dorothy Ware Sutherland, 90, of Abbeville, widow of Samuel "Tom" Sutherland, died Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood. She was born in Abbeville County to the late James T. & Annie Ferguson Ware. Mrs. Sutherland was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a member of Little Mountain Presbyterian Church and the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters. Surviving Mrs. Sutherland are her three daughters; Betty S. Uldrick and her husband Frank of Abbeville, Edna S. Faggart and her husband Bob of Abbeville and Gail S. Gambrell and her husband Arvin of Due West; three sons, Samuel "Sammy" Sutherland, Jr. and his wife Dianne, Claude Sutherland and his wife Deborah and Jimmy Sutherland and his wife Lee all of Abbeville; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Monday, November 23, 2009 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Little Mountain Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Christopher Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Sutherland. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Sutherland, may be sent to Little Mountain Presbyterian Church, 3836 Hwy 28 N., Abbeville, SC 29620.
