Dorothy Tecce Obituary

Dorothy “Dotty” J. Tecce, age 91 of Wakefield, passed away on Monday October 6 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

She was born in East Boston on October 15, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Carmine and Rosina (Cappuca) Molino.

Dotty, Dot, DO, Mama T, Nonni, was a one-of-a-kind beautiful woman and beautiful soul who brought the "fun" no matter where she went. She "was" the party. She had a way of bringing everyone together. You were always welcomed, and she had a way of making everyone feel special. She always had a compliment. No one was ever excluded from Dotty's life.

Moving from East Boston to live in the "woods" lol, of Greenwood was quite an adjustment but with love, they made it a beautiful home. She married John Tecce a police officer/detective in Wakefield. They shared 52 years together before her husband John passed. They were fortunate to have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Angelicas, in true "Dotty" fashion, dancing, singing, and laughing.

She has four loving children. Three beautiful granddaughters, and one exquisite great granddaughter who just turned one. She had two devoted daughter in laws and a devoted son in law. Her bounty of friends were endless. They traveled everywhere.

Christmas Eve is one of the fondest memories everyone will remember, where she cooked up an Italian Feast of the Seven Fishes, where families, friends, neighbors etc came by all night long. If she knew someone had nowhere to celebrate the holidays, they were invited to her home.

She was a whiz with numbers working as a bookkeeper.

In her years she worked at Poly Paks, Modern Laminating, Johnny's Foodmaster, and a lunch mother at the Greenwood school. No matter where she worked, she was loved. Everyone went to Dottie for advice.

Bingo was Dotty's middle name, right through to her last days.

After her husband John passed, she continued to travel, now with the 'ladies', never one to sit still, with her cocktail in hand.

Both Dottie and John were extremely active in the Sons and Daughters of Italy for 35 years.

She was a regular at the Council on Aging in Wakefield.

Eventually, she spent her last 3 years at Brightview Assisted Living, in Wakefield where she thrived. Being in a wheelchair did not stop her. Bingo continued and new friends were made. She was active all the while. She was well taken care of with lots of love and attention.

There will be a huge void left in her town of Wakefield, yet most importantly in everyone’s hearts who were blessed to know her. She is dancing again. We love you forever.

She was the beloved wife of the late John D. Tecce. She was the loving mother of Donna Tecce and her wife Kaye Altieri of Wakefield, Cheryl Jankowski and her husband John of New Ipswich, NH, John Tecce and his wife Heather of Tewksbury, and James Tecce of Wakefield. She was the cherished grandmother of Tracy Hegarty of Nashua, Kimberly Tecce of Medford and Mia Tecce of Revere. Also survived by her great granddaughter Evelyn Hegarty. Dotty was predeceased by her siblings Terry Molino, Sophie Stewart, Angelo “Lolo” Molino, Mary Orso, and Anna DeDominicus.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield on Tuesday October 14 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave Wakefield on Monday October 13 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
