Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral HomeDorothy May (Parker) Thomas
Dorothy May (Parker) Thomas was born on May 05, 1949, the daughter of Dalton C. Parker and Mary Alice (Alred) Parker in Tupelo, MS. On February 23, 2026 she passed away at home after a battle with cancer, with family by her side.
She was raised in Mississippi, and helped in the family farming. In the winter of 1965, while in Florida working alongside her family as seasonal farmworkers, she met the love of her life, Joseph Herbert Thomas. They got married on July 12, 1966, in Mississippi and then moved to Texas.
While in Texas Dorothy had three beautiful children, and she was a stay at home mother to them. Once the kids were older Dorothy began her time as a home health caregiver, and cared for many. She always made sure her home was open to anyone in need, and became a bonus mom to many. She is remembered by the great memories she created with her grandchildren and her famous Thanksgiving stuffing.
Dorothy was a resident of Denton, TX for 59 years, and created a community through bible study. She loved her dog Mr. T and enjoyed spending time with him outside. Dorothy would like to give a special thank you to Shannon Thomas, for everything she did for her.
Dorothy is survived by her three children: Billy Joe Thomas and his wife, Shannon, of Sanger; Tammy Thomas Silva of Little Elm; and Joseph Thomas and his wife, Robin, of Decatur.
She is also survived by six grandchildren: Nicole Silva of Krum; Mason Thomas and his fiancée, Kelsey, of Sanger; Nathan Silva and his wife, Peyton, of Alvord; Logan Thomas of Sanger; J.T. Thomas of Decatur; and McKayla Thomas of Decatur.
Dorothy was blessed with five great-grandchildren: Elliot, Masie Jo, Hazel, Harper, and Denver.
She is further survived by her sisters, Lisa Lain and Tammy Chandler, as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 brothers Jimmy Parker, Tommy Parker, Ricky Parker, Gary Parker and Steve Parker, 3 sisters Faye Wright, Judy Boerner, and Brenda Appelhans and her granddaughter-in-law Devin Thomas.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at the Denton Woman’s Club, 610 Oakland Street, Denton, Texas 76201. Family and friends are invited to attend and honor her life and legacy.
