When I was a child, Dorothy Toombs was my favorite adult friend. I recall her talking to me just as if I were was an adult like her. She loved children and on weekends during the summer she would get a water hose and let us play in the water and we could spray her too. It was so much fun as a child, to play with an adult in a way I never played with my parents. As I grew up over the years, through adulthood, I always visited her or called her. Sometimes I would send her letters and cards. It really breaks my heart to know that as a child and adult she was my friend. I loved her then and I still love the memory of her now. Maurice W. Dorsey, Ph.D.
