Obituary of Dorothy C. Vassalli
Dorothy C. Rippel Mussio Vassalli, 97, of Massapequa, LI, NY, formerly of Clifton Park, NY, peacefully entered into eternal life on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
Born in Astoria, NY, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Eleanor Gassman Rippel and was the beloved wife to Raymond J. Mussio, until his passing on May 22, 1973, and Arthur G. Vassalli, until his passing on January 10, 2014.
Mrs. Vassalli was a dedicated homemaker and had also been employed by Greenpoint Savings Bank in Astoria where she was the Safe Deposit Box Custodian for nearly 15 years.
Dorothy was also affectionately known to some as "Dottie" or "Dot". She loved spending time with her grandchildren either just chatting or making pasta. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas.
She liked to play scrabbled and card games and would play most days.
She had been a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park.
Devoted mother of Karen (James) Francescone and Linda (David) DeCanio, sister of the late Philip Rippel, cherished "Grandma" and "Nanny" to David DeCanio, Michael (Kate) DeCanio and Haley (fiancé, Kaleb Bogardus) Francescone, also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065 on Monday, October 27, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. and to her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
Interment will be held in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to a charity of their choice in memory of Dorothy C. Vassalli.
