Dorothy Anne (Bender) Warnke, 91, died November 9th, 2025, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born on August 10, 1934, in New York City, the daughter of Eugene and Gertrude (Hogan) Bender.

She graduated from Archbishop Hughes Memorial High School in New York, NY, Good Counsel College in White Plains, NY and received her master's in speech from Teacher's College at Columbia University in New York, NY.

The Bender family moved to Elmsford, NY where Dorothy met her husband, Ernest W. Warnke. They were married on February 2, 1963.

Dorothy was a natural teacher. In addition to her many years as an educator in the Westchester area of New York, she inspired a love of history and reading everywhere she went. Throughout her life she gifted a library's worth of books to friends and acquaintances, young and old. She also touched many lives with her uniquely attuned notes and cards. Dorothy was a lover of acting and theater, performing in plays throughout her school days and in community theater as an adult.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest, and children James, Patricia, Diane, Joan, Barbara, Kristin and Matthew and their spouses; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a brother, Eugene Bender, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters, Barbara Henninger and Jeanne Montenegro.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held, 10 am, on the 17th of November 2025 at the Parish of the Resurrection, Nashua, NH. Interment will follow at St. Louis de Gonzague Cemetery in Nashua, NH. Family and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Merrimack YMCA Early Education Center, https://nmymcaeec.funraise.org, in memory of Dorothy's passion for education.
