DOROTHY WEIMER Obituary

DOROTHY LUELLA WEIMER Dorothy Luella Weimer, 96, of Beardstown, passed away May 26, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born January 16, 1929, in Bluff Springs, the daughter of Arthur and Amy Dyche Miller. She married John Eason Weimer on September 11, 1949, and he preceded her in death in 1993. Surviving are her children Stan (Linda ) Weimer, Carol (Kerry) Loughary; grandchildren, B.J (Whitney) Raney, Scott (Hannah) Raney, Katie (Kyle) Davenport, Maggie (Fiance, Brad) Weimer, Sam (Fiance, Abby) Weimer, Nathan Loughary, and A.J Loughary; great-granchildren Cameron Raney, Liam Raney, Julianne Raney, Emmy Raney, and Oliver Davenport. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Miller Genseal, and brother, Glenn Miller. Dorothy graduated from Beardstown High School in 1947, working for Kline's Department Store during high school. After graduation, she was employed with C.I.P.S. as a secretary. Dorothy was a long-time substitute cook at Brick School before becoming full-time for 16 years. She was a member of the Beardstown American Legion Auxiliary, active in Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (W.E.L.C.A.), and a long-time member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Beardstown. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and canning; embroidery; sudoku and puzzle books; solitaire, rummy, dominos, euchre, and picture puzzles. At Christmas time she organized the "The Weimer Christmas Bingo Competition". Up until her early 90's, Dorothy mowed her own yard with a zero-turn mower, frequently "competing" with her neighbor, brother Glenn. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, watching many games while riding her stationary bike. Dorothy was very well known for her sugar cookies, and at church she was known as the deviled-egg lady. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family, going to her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's activities, going on family vacations, and attending sporting events. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2025, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Beardstown. The family will meet friends from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. prior to services. Burial will follow at Beardstown City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Beardstown or Cass-Schuyler Home Health/Hospice.
