Karen Sue Weimer
April 25, 1951 - February 1, 2026
Karen Sue Weimer, 74, of Richmond, Va., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on February 1, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David James Weimer, and her parents, Leroy B. Stutzman and Thelma Mae Stutzman. Karen is survived by her sisters, Edith M. Scaletta of Johnstown, Pa., and Nancy J. Rolley, wife of Joseph R. Rolley, also of Johnstown, Pa. She leaves behind her cherished children: Shelby Weimer Hines and her husband, Jeff Hines; Shawn David Weimer and his wife, Heather; Lauren Nicole Weimer; Natalie Weimer Adams and her husband, Luke Adams; and David James Weimer Jr. and his wife, Mary Josephine. She was a devoted grandmother to Caleb Hines and his wife, Karina, Ryan Hines, Elizabeth Anne Jackson, Raegan Weimer, Connor Weimer, Sadie Adams, Noah Adams, and David James Weimer III ("Tripp"), and a proud great-grandmother to Lowen Hines. Karen grew up in Johnstown, Pa., where she fell in love with and married her high school sweetheart, David. Together, they moved to Richmond, Va., to raise their family. Karen devoted 35 years of her life to caring for others as a nurse in the nursery at Henrico Doctors' Hospital, where she often worked the night shift tending to newborn babies and new mothers. A strong and resilient woman, Karen bravely overcame two battles with breast cancer and remained a steady pillar of love and support for her family. She adored time spent with those she loved, especially family vacations at Bald Head Island, NC. She was also a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and never missed watching games with her children and grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Nana." Karen found joy in a house full of laughter, giving thoughtful gifts, watching any movie featuring Diane Keaton, and her lifelong love of dogs. Above all, she was an adoring sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who is remembered for her warmth, strength, generosity, and lighthearted fear of bumblebees. The family sincerely thanks Karen's caregivers and doctors for their compassionate care, comfort, and support during her final days. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, Henrico, VA 23229, where a celebration of life reception will follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations may be made to The
The Parkinson's Foundation or The
