Jacksonville - Dorthy L. Nomady, 94, of Castle Rock, CO, and formerly of Jacksonville, IL, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Castle Rock Assisted Living.
She was born March 25, 1931, in Jacksonville, IL, the daughter of William H. and Evalee A. (Arenz) McDonald. She married Paul A. Nomady on May 1, 1958, and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2017.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Shari) Nomady of Castle Rock, CO; three granddaughters, Jennifer Rondeau (Jason), Kristen Reskusic (Krsto), and Brittany Banks (Charlie); and seven great-grandchildren, Eloise, Conrad, Luka, Liam, Kaydn, Raeya, and Bodhi. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her three sisters, Audrey Dempke, Helen Dennis, and Aileen German.
Dorthy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She cherished time spent with her family and especially loved creating photo albums of her granddaughters. She also found joy in boating and making memories at the family's lake house in Wisconsin. An active member of TOPS and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, she enjoyed the friendships she built in those communities and the many games of Bunco she played throughout the years. While living in Jacksonville, she attended the Church of Our Saviour.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with entombment at Oak Ridge Mausoleum in Springfield. The family will meet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Memorial gifts are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be sent online at airsman-hires.com.
