Dot Gray Obituary

Dot Mortensen Gray

1963-2025

Sandy, Utah -Dorothy "Dot" Gallo Mortensen Gray, 62, passed away on October 3, 2025 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born on March 6, 1963 in Salt Lake City to Helen Holt and Harry Gallo. She graduated from Cottonwood High School and attended the University of Utah.

Dot will be remembered for her charisma, humor, and smile. She had the ability to make friends in any room she walked in and made anyone in her presence feel welcomed. She especially loved fashion, painting, music, and dancing. Dot had a personality as bright as her favorite flower, sunflowers. Not only was she a bright personality, she was also a sensitive soul who would help anyone in need.

She had an unparalleled adoration and pride for her two sons, Jovi and Hylun, and would lovingly talk about their accomplishments any chance she could. Dot deeply loved her family and the many friends she made.

She is survived by her sons, Jovi (Alexx) Bathemess and Hylun (Haylee) Mortensen; grandson, Leo Mortensen; sisters, Kathy Salazar, Pat (Todd) Cullimore, Tina Gallo, Gloria (Tom) East; and brother, Charles (Carrie) Holt Jr. She is preceded in death by husband, Brent Gray, and former husband Danny Mortensen; parents, Helen Holt, Charles Eugene Holt Sr., and Harry Gallo; brothers-in-law, Stan Salazar, and Mike Smith.

A Celebration of Life will take place for invited family and friends.

In Loving Memory of Dot
Today, my heart is heavy as I say goodbye to my dear friend, Dot. She was a light in every room she entered-kind, steady, and full of quiet strength. Dot had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved just as they were. Her laughter could soften even the hardest day, and her compassion left a mark on everyone lucky enough to know her.

Though she´s no longer with us in body, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched-with her friendship, her grace, and her unwavering kindness. I´ll hold close the memories of our talks, our laughter, and the little moments that meant so much.

Rest peacefully, Dot. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Love you my friend.

I am so grateful for the time I got to know Dot such a fun special lady. For years while I worked with her, her bright smile made my morning. Such an unexpected friendship we had. But one i will never forget. I have missed the talks we had at the office. The chats we had on the phone after. We laughed and cried together through life for years. I will never forget you, love you Dot!

Precious Dot, I´m so sorry to hear this news. I remember we were best buddies in Oakwood Elementary School. I loved visiting her childhood home on Meadowcrest. It was a place of peace and love. Dot always had long fingernails and I was jealous of them. I thought that they were so exotic. Rest in peace.

The world has lost a bright and beautiful shining star. Where does one begin to describe the love that you feel or a person that always treated you well made you feel special, made you laugh and you had the best times of your life with. Dottie you will be missed beyond compare. If you've ever met a person in your life who made everyone feel warm and welcome and made you laugh so hard, they are rare to find. I found that in my friend Dottie. She loved her boys and her family and her wonderful sisters so much. She was an inspiration to me and I will miss her terribly. Rest in beautiful sleep my friend for I will see you someday. In the meantime, I am always thinking of you

I´m absolutely shocked and heartbroken to hear the news of Dot´s passing. She was always singing, dancing, and making everyone laugh. She had the ability to make you feel like you were her best friend. I always looked to her for life advice or a listening ear. She is the absolute best, and the world is a little less bright without her in it.

Dotty where do I even begin? You will be so incredibly missed. You have always been such a good friend to me. We always had the best conversations. You are beautiful inside and out and an absolute Angel of a person. You´d always call me "doll" and never go anywhere without your lashes on It gives me some peace knowing you´re with your soulmate Brent again. What a joyous reunion I´m sure that was. I love you!

I´m so glad we re-connected a few years back to catch up whenever we could get together. She had such a good memory! I will never forget her. Such a beautiful soul inside & out. Love ya girl Rest in Peace
