Mrs. Dottie Lee “Dot” Simmons Nunn, age 90, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Wednesday morning, August 2, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 24, 1933, in Stokes County to the late H.M. “Bill” and Sadie Chilton Simmons. Mrs. Nunn loved music, gardening, crafts, floral arranging, her church and providing a loving joyous home for her family and friends. She was a lifelong member of Asbury Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Left to cherish her memory are three daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly Love, Pam and Earl Collins, and Sherri and Johnny Manchester; a son, Kevin Nunn; a granddaughter, Holly Collins and fiancée, Shawn Street; great grandson, Caden Street; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Robert Overby. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nunn was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Raeford Nunn; a son-in-law, Calvin Love; three brothers, Bill Simmons, Rufus Simmons and Tom Simmons. A service of worship and celebration of Dot’s life will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 2:30 PM at Asbury Evangelical Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Terry Collins and Rev. Rickey Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until the time of the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Asbury Evangelical Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund, Attn: Kim Gravley, P.O. Box 7, Westfield, NC 27053. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Nunn family.
