Obituary of Doug Taylor
We are sad to announce that Doug Taylor passed away peacefully at home on July 29, 2023. Doug was born in Winnipeg to Teresa "Terry" and Brian Taylor. He grew up there and met the love of his life, Debbie. They were married in 1979, had their two daughters, and moved to Calgary in 1986. In 1991, they moved to Strathmore where they raised their family and have lived ever since.
Doug has always been very active in his community. For many years, he volunteered with the Children's Hospital Foundation, he loved coaching baseball, was on several town boards, and served with the Strathmore Kinsmen Club for over 30 years. As part of the Kinsmen, he was involved in the development of Kinsmen Park, the tree burning events, and the construction of the amphitheater in Kinsmen Park. He was proud of everything the Kinsmen have done in Strathmore.
Doug worked for Canadian Airlines, and later Air Canada for many years. After his retirement, he worked at Strathmore Home Hardware where his knowledge and love for being social were an asset. Doug loved his time working there.
Doug was predeceased by his parents, Teresa and Brian; father-in-law Peter; and brother-in-law, Dennis. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 43 years, Debbie; daughters Brooke (Glen) and Sarah (Curtis); granddaughters Kate and Lauren; sister Judy (Denis); and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Vakil and the team at South Health Campus and Strathmore Home Care. Special thanks to Marilyn and EMT's Blaine and Thomas for their compassionate guidance with Doug's passing.
At Doug's request, no funeral service will be held.
