Sadly, we mourn the loss of husband, father and grandfather Douglas Bergman.
Douglas was born May 29th, 1952, at Eitel Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota to parents Leonard and Doris (Adams) Bergman. He lived in Fridley with his parents, along with his siblings JoAnn (Wilbur) and Bruce. Doug did his primary schooling in Fridley, MN and then secondary schooling at Moorhead Technical Institute. After high school he served his country by enlisting in the US Army as a helicopter mechanic for the 1st Aviation Brigade and selflessly volunteered for the Vietnam War from 1970-1971.
Upon returning home, he married his devoted wife Sharon (Larson) on June 23rd, 1972, in Fridley, MN. Together they raised a family including children Jeffre, Wade, Brigitte and Benjamin. For work, Doug was the owner and diesel mechanic of Northside Repair until his retirement in 2005. During his working years, he lived with family in Maryland, Eagen (MN), Fargo (ND), Apple Valley (MN), Moorhead (MN) and then finally in Detroit Lakes (MN).
Doug spent his working and retirement years with wife Sharon on Rock Lake for the past 29 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and furry pets. He was also a proud supporter of his children's and grandchildren's many athletic endeavors, always present on the sidelines. With a heavy heart he struggled with chronic health issues before unexpectedly dying at Oaks Crossing Transitional Unit in Detroit Lakes on November 18th, 2024.
He is preceded in death by parents Leonard and Doris, siblings Joann and Bruce and sons, Jeffre and Wade.
He is survived by wife Sharon, children; Brigitte and Benjamin and grandchildren; Emilia, Spencer, Jack, Elizabeth and Adelyn, whom he was very proud of.
