Obituary of Douglas Cade Billman
Douglas "Cade" Billman, 39, passed away at home on February 23, 2025. He was a lifelong resident of Crowley. He grew up in a house on Main Street. He attended Crowley Public Schools. Many hours were spent hanging out with his friends in his driveway, playing basketball, riding bikes around the neighborhood, skating at the local rink, and wherever the local hangout was at that time.
He would always joke with friends, make people laugh, and just make everyone feel welcome. Cade always had a soft spot for stray animals. He had animals throughout his life. Starting at a young age, he brought home a cat "Ringo" without asking. Ringo would chase the boys around as much as the boys would chase him. Many memories of family vacations in Bridgeport and the lake house in Whitney will be cherished. When you got to know Cade and hang out with him, he left an imprint on your life. Cade was the most genuine and loyal of friends. He made lifelong friends in every event or stage of his life.
He played some sports growing up, but his passion was softball. He was a pitcher in adult leagues for many years. If he was with you and he said "gotta run" it was often to play in a tournament or game. Or if he was invited to a get-together and he had a game he would say "I'll be there after we're done with the game" and he would show up afterwards.
Cade loved to cook and had a real talent for making his own deviled egg recipes, barbecue, guacamole, and salsa. He would have cookouts, attend cookouts, take lake trips, and other family/friend gatherings that usually involved good food, swimming, corn hole, music, and fun. He enjoyed playing cards, darts, watching sporting events, or anything else that involved being with family or friends and most often both.
Fishing was another one of his passions. Cade would sometimes fish alone but to be with his "wolf pack" was the best. Cade, Tanner, and Ronnie just recently started bow fishing. Cameron and Eric also went with them on occasion. His "pack" said these were absolutely the "best times".
Cade was quite the jokester. He had a quick wit about him like none other. He had a way of bringing out the absolute best in people. Everyone was welcome around Cade. His sense of humor was contagious. One would learn very quickly to be on their toes with a response because when Cade was around it was a must, for something was going to be said, and one must have some kind of "comeback." He was known to take friends' phones and hack their Facebook with inappropriate posts, change names and go so far as to modify the owner's pictures using filters to make them bald or some kind of crazy face.
Cade was a family kind of guy. He loved his girls beyond measure. He was a "great dad"! He was always there for them as they grew up and into the strong young women they are today. He supported them in every way a dad was supposed to. In doing so, he taught his girls what family meant, what family was about, and to love all people. He loved his family. He loved his friends. Most of his friends became his extended family, loving each of them in a very special way.
Cade was preceded in death by one brother, David; grandparents, Harry Billman, Opal Billman, and Kenneth Hopkins; and best friends Jon and James.
Survivors include four daughters, Caydence (Audrey), Avery, Bralyn, and Cerissa; mother, Debra Billman of Crowley; father, Doug Billman (Linda) of Crowley; three brothers: Gary (Sarah) and their children Hunter and Peighton of Godley, Cameron (Ashli) and their children Adrian, Myles, Caleb and Baylee of Crowley, and Ryan Burchett and his son Conor of Hurst; one sister, Sara Burchett of Burleson; special friends: Tanner, Mindy, Jennifer B, Jennifer, Brandy, Christi, and Troy; and a host of family, extended family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life was held on Monday March 3, 2025 and attended by family and friends.
