Douglas W. Bottlemy, age 74, of Owen, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 28, 2025.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Rev. Phil Beukema will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Doug was born on December 3, 1950, the son of Warren and Joanne (Rice) in Harvard, IL. He graduated from Owen-Withee High School. On June 14, 1975, Doug was united in marriage to Carol J. Mayenschein. He worked on the family farm, Greenwood Homes, road construction and drove for the Mennonites.
Doug had a passion for a variety of activities, including bowling, camping, softball, fishing, tending to his garden, and plowing snow. However, above all, he cherished the time spent with his family. His legacy lives on through his four sons, ensuring that his memory and values will be passed down for generations to come.
Doug is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol; four sons: Matthew (Corrie), Kevin (Jackie), Craig (Holly) and Jason (Chris); five grandchildren: Darryn, Grayce, Dakota (Gerald), Kaylie (Mason), Austin and Brennyn and four great-grandchildren: Easton, Beau, Kendra and Baby Lofquist. He is further survived by three brothers: Gregory, Mark and Kurt; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Joanne; a sister, Karen Sue; a brother, Ronald. Sisters-in-law: Marlyns Andrusckiewicz and Marilyn Mayenschein; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Curt and Laura Mayenschein.
