Douglas Wayne Bowker
Douglas Wayne Bowker, 83, of San Antonio, TX passed away peacefully at home on August 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. From one breath to another he was taken to Heaven.
Born on January 9, 1941, in Cleveland, OH, Douglas was the cherished son of Donald and Louise Bowker. He spent his formative years in San Antonio, graduating from Breckenridge High School in 1957. A dedicated IBEW union electrician, Douglas retired from CPS Energy after 29 years of service, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
On November 30, 1968, Douglas married the love of his life, Linda, and together they built a family grounded in love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who always prioritized his family above all else.
Douglas will be fondly remembered for his unwavering kindness, strong work ethic, and passion for fishing and the outdoors. His joy for life and the great outdoors was infectious, and he found peace and fulfillment in nature's beauty.
He is survived by his beloved wife Linda, his children Douglas II and his wife Kimberly, Justin and his wife Rita, and Jason, and his grandchildren Alexi, Austin, Lindsay, and Logan. He is also survived by his brother Donald and wife Margaret and sister Lois and her husband Bill.
A gathering will be held to celebrate Douglas' life, honoring his memory and the countless lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, a cause close to the Bowker family's heart. The Bowker family has supported the MS Society of San Antonio for many years, and Douglas' son Jason has actively participated in numerous MS Bike Rides in support of this important organization. https://donate.nationalmssociety.org/campaign/Douglas-Wayne-Bowker-Memorial
Douglas will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
