Mr. Carroll passed away December 8, 2025, in Madison, AL. He was born December 10, 1943, in Grand Saline, to Eugene Stanley and Dorothy Retha Nance Carroll.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, completing a tour in Vietnam. Following his military service, Doug built a long and dedicated career with Eckerd Drug, retiring after more than 30 years. Upon retirement, he returned to Grand Saline, where he enjoyed the peaceful life of raising cattle on his farm in Lawrence Springs.
Doug was known for his generous spirit and willingness to help others. He was always ready to lend a hand—whether helping friends and family with whatever they needed, giving rides to appointments, or serving faithfully at church. He had a true heart for service and could always be counted on.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alva Nell Carroll; wife, Anita Palmer Carroll; three brothers, Sammy Lovell Carroll, Loy Dean Carroll, and Orvin Lee Carroll; and one sister, Retha Faye Carroll Hughes.
Survivors include his two sons, Douglas Wayne Carroll, Jr. of Arlington, and John Palmer and wife Julie of St. Simons Island, GA; two daughters, Jennifer Diane Carroll Bier and husband David of Madison, AL, and Nita Jo Palmer of Troup; brother and sister-in-law, Ellis Carroll and wife Dottie of Edgewood; five grandchildren, Ryan Bier, Matthew Bier, Johanna Whitten, James Palmer, and Joe Palmer; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Bier, Matthew Bier, Bill Culp, Charles Giesecke, Danny Milam, and Rex White.
