Douglas G. Custer
Age 79 of Plum Boro, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021. Beloved husband of 53 years to the late Shirley J. (Weyhrich) Custer. Loving father of Brenda (Regis) Sanner of Indian Trail, NC. Proud grandfather of Garrett and Carson Sanner of Indian Trail, NC. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Frances (Barron) Custer; and sister, Bonnie Buck. Doug honorably served as a military policeman in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he was a dedicated sales representative for Nabisco, retiring after many years of service. After retirement, he went back to work as an assistant manager for the Holiday Park Shop 'n Save where he worked until last year. He was a long-time member of Christ's Lutheran Church. In his free time he enjoyed camping, boating, and the spending time outdoors. He was also an avid stamp collector, and loved taking drives in his Thunderbird convertible. Family and friends will be received Friday, December 17, 2021 from 1 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 2 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747). Interment will be private at Husband Cemetery in Somerset, PA.
