Douglas, known affectionately as Lane, was a native of Caesar, Mississippi. He was retired from The Carpenters and Piledrivers Local Union 1846. Lane was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was an active member of the Brotherhood. He was also deeply involved in Promise Keepers, a Christian organization dedicated to men of integrity. Through his faith, Lane devoted much of his time to serving others, including extensive work with the Children's Village in Wiggins, Mississippi, as well as participation in numerous other community projects.
Lane shared a deep and abiding love with his wife, Paula Kay Dossett. Their marriage was a true testament to faith, commitment, and devotion. Through the years, he was a faithful and loving husband who cherished Paula wholeheartedly, standing by her with unwavering support, kindness, and grace. Together they built a life grounded in love, faith, and family, and their bond remains an enduring example of a Christ-centered marriage to all who knew them.
Lane was a devoted father to his daughters, Marcy and Tammy, and treasured the life they shared together on the farm. He taught them the value of hard work, faith, and responsibility through everyday moments early mornings, long days, and time spent caring for the land and livestock. The farm was not only their home, but a place where memories were made, lessons were learned, and a strong family bond was built. Lane took great pride in the women his daughters became and remained a steady source of love, guidance, and encouragement throughout their lives.
He loved spending time with his family and especially cherished moments with his grandchildren. Lane took great pride in each of them and found his greatest joy in being present in their lives whether working alongside them on the farm, sharing stories and laughter, offering guidance and encouragement, or simply enjoying quiet time together. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he delighted in watching them grow, always supporting them with a steady hand, a listening ear, and an unwavering love that will continue to guide them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Dossett and Myrtle Dossett; his loving wife, Paula Kay Dossett; his sister, Mary Alice Polk; his brother, Robert Wayne Dossett; and his grandson, Patrick Mitchell.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Tammy (Todd) Stockstill, and Marcy (Thomas) Mitchell; his grandchildren, Michelle (Thomas) Browder, Steven Mitchell, Tyler Stockstill, Christopher Mitchell, Sabastiaan Mitchell, Bayle Stockstill, and Zackary Mitchell; and nieces and nephews.
