Douglas Irving Grandy

It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Douglas Grandy, who left this world on September 23, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on February 5, 1955, in Mecklenburg County, NC, Douglas lived a life full of passion, adventure, and dedication.

Douglas spent his career as a Commissioner for Duke Energy, where he brought innovation and dedication to his role as a programmer. His work took him across the United States, allowing him to share his talents and make a mark in several states. Despite his professional commitments, Douglas always found time for his true passions-his love for '70s muscle cars and the open road on his Harley.

An enthusiast of classic cars, Douglas proudly owned a '70 Challenger, a '73 Gold Challenger, and a '68 Chevelle SS. His love for these timeless machines was matched only by his love for adventure. Together with his beloved wife, Linda, Douglas explored the vast landscapes of the United States on their Harleys, creating cherished memories from the plains of South Dakota to the coasts of Maine.

In 2011, Douglas and Linda settled in Ocean Isle Beach, NC, after previously residing in Concord, NC. Though he loved traveling and cruising, Douglas always remained a homebody at heart, cherishing the quiet moments with his family and friends.

Douglas leaves behind a loving family who will forever feel his absence. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda; his daughter, Tami Mullis; his grandchildren, Joshua, Jonathan, Anna, and Lauran; 9 great-grandchildren and his sisters, Cynthia (Scott) Casey, Cathy Murray, and Lisa (Dale) Winchester. Each of them carries a piece of Douglas's spirit, woven into the fabric of their lives.

The family has chosen to honor Douglas's life with private services. As we remember Douglas, let us celebrate a life well-lived-a life that touched many through his work, his adventures, and most importantly, his love for those around him. May his memory inspire us all to embrace each day with the same enthusiasm and joy that he did.
