Dear Mary: I send my love and prayers to you and your family. Am so sad to hear of Doug's passing and the loss of man of creativity, integrity, humor and love. My thoughts are with you.

Navy Boot Camp mate, 1952. Classmate, Iona College, '54. Saw Doug last at our 60th reunion. Sorry to hear of his passing.

I am quite late in learning of Doug's passing, but wanted to extend condolences to his family. Doug and I enjoyed many great conversations over the years whether on projects in NYC or on Metro North heading home to Westchester. What a delight to be in his company.....what a good man.

I just learned of Doug's passing. I am so very sorry. I considered him one-of-a-kind, both as a person and as a writer/publicist/PR man. We worked together quite closely in recent years in two writing/PR groups. My condolences to the entire family.

Dear Mary, Doug Jr, Chris, Big Matt and families - We were so very sad to read about Doug's passing. Needless to say, the extended O'Brien family all share many happy memories of fun times spent with him and your family. He was an engaging and wonderful person and we will miss him greatly. Dear Mary, was heartbroken to learn about Doug's death today. So many memories come to mind. He was such a good man with a fun loving Irish soul. Doug was an engaging, compassionate human being with a great depth of knowledge and a flair for story-telling. He will be greatly missed by all of us who lunched with him regularly as members of Thursday III. Deepest condolences to Mary, his sons and the family.

So sorry to hear your sad news

I was saddened to hear of Doug's passing. I'll think of him walking his dog and being so friendly.

It was honor and a pleasure working with Doug at Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum. He expressed such joy sharing his knowledge and his experiences, I treasure the times our paths crossed. My favorite memories are of him in period costume and him discussing his book.
