Douglas Dean Hughes, age 51, of Milton, FL, passed away on October 1, 2025. He was born on October 30, 1973, to Garland Dean and Deborah Lynn Hughes, in Milton, FL.

He received a prestigious award in the Outward-Bound Program for saving his entire group of peers during a tropical storm while camping. Doug loved spending time outdoors and fishing.

Doug loved and adored his wife of 28 years, his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He enjoyed his career as a roofer and his accomplishments at work. He was a very hard worker and took pride in being a loyal person. He was a Christian and loved his preacher, Bro. Mike Price.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dean Hughes; sister, Stacy Hughes; grandfather, Smokey Bishop; grandmother, Thora Passmore; and granddaughter, Annabelle Torgerson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lori Hughes; son, Dustin Torgerson; daughters, Rebeckah Steele and Adrianna Purdin; grandchildren: Cooper, Rhian, Jacob, Jenna, Lorene, Charles and Elliot; his uncle, who was more of a father to him, Bruce Passmore; mother, Debbie Whitfield; grandmother, Rosemarie Bishop; and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to thank Vitas at West Florida Hospital for the care he received there.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
