Douglas Alan Jones couldn't quite out run the difficulties on this earth. His race finished June 16, 2025. Doug loved his family, and we loved him, especially his visits after his move to San Antonio in 2014. Doug was passionate about work, and if it involved electronics, even better. He studied electronics briefly in Arizona and upon his return began repairing video games in the local pizza joint. He enjoyed working on cars, and worked for a great guy at Firestone for many years, then for a Tulsa Nissan dealership. He got the opportunity to change careers and went to work for Russ Electric in Broken Arrow. He worked his way up doing quality control on switch gears before they were shipped all over the world. It was during this time he experienced a life changing bout with mental anxiety & depression. LayerZero called him after his move to San Antonio and offered him a job consulting by phone a few hours a month, and within a couple of years, Doug resumed working full time. LayerZero gave him a second chance and put wind in his sails once again, which was a huge blessing. Doug loved his job, and we are grateful for the LayerZero family.
When Doug wasn't working, he would be building computers or walking with his son and dogs in their favorite creek. Doug also was a coffee connoisseur. He loved creating coffee with his siphon coffee maker. Over the past several years, he developed a gift for building one-of-a-kind industrial pipe lighting, tables and fixtures, and they were absolutely stunning. He filled every room of his home with his creations. As Doug traveled, a Smoothie King was a necessity and in walking distance from his hotel. When he was home, he especially loved eating a Goldies burger and hanging out with family.
Doug believed and trusted in Jesus at a young age and one day we will be reunited with Doug again in Heaven because he was a child of God. Doug is survived by his son Douglas James Jones of Broken Arrow, and wife Sonja of Bandera Texas; his parents Arma Jean & David Jones of Broken Arrow; brother Greg & Beth Jones of Oklahoma City; sister Kelly & Wes Herzberg of Broken Arrow; nieces Anna Jones, Lindy Herzberg and, nephew Connor Herzberg. Our hearts are broken, we miss you terribly, and we love you so very much.
We each can suffer from some sort of anxiety and/or possibly mental illness. It has touched our family and maybe yours. Don't take the signs or illness lightly. So, here is where we can get help. Call 988 in Oklahoma, or contact Hope is Oxygen, and get connected with a crisis counselor. Please consider donating to Hope is Oxygen a local nonprofit for Suicide Prevention on Doug's behalf. https://hopeisoxygen.org/
