BURNHAM-Douglas H. Kenney, 74, died peacefully on December 21, 2022, in Pittsfield.
Doug was born on September 24, 1948, in Burnham, the son of the late Ernest and Beatrice (Patterson) Kenney. He was a hard worker and held several jobs over the years. One of his favorites was with Sterling Vaughan in the woods. He retired from Oakhurst Dairy in Winslow after 20 years of service. In his retired years he stocked coolers at the Patterson General Store and stayed well versed in the local gossip.
Doug absolutely loved his family. They were his number one priority and he was very proud of them. He was kind, generous, and known as a gentle giant who would help anyone in need. He liked hunting and fishing in his younger years and enjoyed watching his grandchildren carry on the tradition. He loved all kids and enjoyed treating them to candy at the Patterson store. He was an avid animal lover and especially loved his 3 dogs, Bear, Lacey, and Izzie.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Ellen Kenney; son, Adam Kenney; daughter, Brandie Rhoda and husband Craig, all of Burnham; 7 grandchildren: Szcherod, Jahyra (Alex), Kayin, Chase, Haven, Sierra (Jasper), and Amelia; 4 great-grandchildren: Charlotte "Charlie", Zoryah "Zoey", Maxim, and Lion; siblings: Cheryl Rossingnol and Brian Kenney; special great niece, Ellie; and many other extended family members.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother-in-law, Donald Rossingnol.
A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Burnham Town Hall.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the Sebasticook Valley Hospital's ER and Med Surge Department, Dr. Badeen, and to his primary care doctor, Charles Kriegal, for their wonderful care.
