Douglas Wright Kobs

March 25, 1950 – August 26, 2025

Douglas Wright Kobs of Vernon, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of his wife and family. Born and raised in Alexandria, Minnesota, Doug's early years were marked by summers on a lake, a storybook childhood that shaped his warm and generous spirit.

Doug was a man of deep faith and unwavering love. Throughout his life, his Christian belief was a guiding light, offering him comfort and hope. He often reflected, "You don't know what tomorrow is going to bring, so enjoy today." This philosophy carried him through joys and challenges that life sent his way. His faith grew stronger as he faced the unknown, trusting in God's promises and miracles beyond explanation.

Doug was known for his creativity and craftsmanship. He found joy in pottery, framing, and many home projects, taking pride in the hands-on work that shaped both his home and his legacy. He was humble about his gifts but grateful for the opportunities they brought him to express himself.

A devoted husband to Michelle for 29 years, Doug was a proud father to ten children and thirteen grandchildren: Graham and Kate Kobs and their children Jacquelyn and Asher, Kyle Kobs and his children Alex and Jennifer, Jamie Jurado and her children Nicolas and Brianna, Angela Kobs and Matt Jablon and their son Marcus, Leann Kobs-Albano and Chris Albano and their daughter Savannah, Desiree Kobs-Camacho and Gabe Camacho and their daughter Everly, Nina and Jamie Gravlin and their children Cameron and Isabel, Tracy O'Connor-Maser and Mike Maser and their children Alayna and Brayden, Laurel McConville and Nakia Keizer, and Alice Nora and Bryden DiGennaro. His home was a place of warmth and welcome, especially for the many children he helped to raise over the years. He is also survived by his sister Kathy Kobs.

Doug approached life with a quick wit and a gentle sense of humor. His ability to laugh, brought levity to even the hardest moments. He had a way of lightening the mood without ever making light of what mattered.

Doug faced his illness with courage and strength, choosing to embrace comfort and peace in his final days, thankful for the kindness of hospice care.

Doug's life was a vivid tapestry of love, faith, creativity, and resilience. He leaves behind a legacy of faith-filled action and a home full of love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A private memorial will be held by the family.

Doug and I were best friends through middle school and high school in Alexandria, MN. We both loved sports especially Track and Field and Basketball.
The summers were so fun during those years water skiing, swimming, root beer floats at A&W and just hanging out. The summer after our Sophomore year we drove out to Yellowstone in his little Chevy convertible. Still don´t know how we talked our parents into that trip at 16 years old.
So many fun memories as Doug loved life and made me and everyone around him laugh.
I miss you good friend but the best thing you ever did was lead me to Jesus which has been a life long journey. Looking forward to seeing you in heaven.
