Douglas Losee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peel Funeral Home - Bonifay on Nov. 24, 2025.

Mr. Douglas Jesse 'Horny' Losee, age 60, of Bonifay, Florida passed away November 19, 2025. He was born on July 6, 1965, in Mattoon, Illinois. Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Strol Austin, and two siblings, Duane Losee, and Kristen Losee.

Mr. Losee is survived by his wife of 28 years, Gail Losee; one son, Tyler Losee of FL; two stepsons, David Bevan and wife Amanda of KS and Nathan Bevan and wife Monica of MD; two brothers, Damon Losee of AL and Shannon Losee and wife Jennifer of FL; one sister, Sheila Austin of FL; numerous nieces and nephews.

Doug was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kind heart, generous spirit, and unforgettable sense of humor-he was truly the biggest goofball-brought joy wherever he went.

Doug proudly retired after 23 and a half years of dedicated service at Holmes Correctional Institution. Even in retirement, his heart for others never wavered. He continued to volunteer at the Holmes CI Work Camp through the prison ministry, offering encouragement, compassion, and faith to those who needed it most.

From 2000 until his passing, Doug was a trained PADI scuba diver who embraced every opportunity for adventure beneath the surface. He was deeply committed to the Combat Vets Motorcycle Association, faithfully logging over 100,000 miles in support of veterans and their mission.

Doug was a faithful member of Spirit of Life Church and also a proud supporter and member of the HSMM, Heaven Saints Motorcycle Ministry. His devotion to his faith and his biker community was an important part of his life and service to others.

Every Wednesday morning, Doug could be found at the Men's Emmaus Meeting at First Presbyterian Church in Chipley, Florida. He was also an alumnus of the BWE No. 59 Emmaus Walk, a meaningful milestone in his spiritual journey.

Doug will be forever remembered for many things, but perhaps nothing more uniquely than the unmistakable sound of the "TRAIN HORNS" on his Harley. They were a reflection of his fun-loving nature and the joy he brought into the world.

Above all, Doug was a man of kindness, faith, and laughter-someone who made life better simply by being in it. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched.

A celebration of life will be held at the Chipley Hellfighters clubhouse at 1:30 PM Sunday, December 7, 2025. Memorialization was by cremation with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements.
