Ralph Edward Losee, a devoted husband, father, teacher, and friend, passed away on December 21, 2025, at Grand Arbor. Born on March 5, 1935, in Des Moines, Iowa, Ralph was the beloved son of Lester and Martha (Bennett) Losee and grew up in a family of five children.

Ralph's early years were marked by a steadfast commitment to education and athletics. He attended Anson Junior High School and later graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1953, where he distinguished himself as a dedicated football player. Following his graduation, Ralph enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving in telecommunications at the onset of the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he pursued higher education at Iowa State University, where he earned a degree in coaching and industrial arts, continuing his legacy as an athlete on the football field.

Ralph’s teaching career began at James B Conant High School in Illinois, where he imparted knowledge in industrial arts to his students, encouraging their hands-on skills by teaching them how to build homes. His rapport with his students and his passion for coaching marked him as an inspiring figure in their lives. He met Marjorie Seimin study hall during high school, and their paths crossed again a few years later, leading them to fall in love and marry on August 11, 1956, at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Together, they were blessed with two children, Mark and Julie, whom he raised with deep dedication and affection. Ralph took great pride in coaching Mark during his high school football years, further nurturing a love for the sport within their family. Family was the cornerstone of Ralph's existence, and he dedicated himself to being a loving father, always present and engaged with his children's interests and activities.

The Losee family found joy in traveling together, frequently embarking on summer adventures across the United States in their motorhome. They created lasting memories visiting breathtaking locations such as Banff, Canada, London, England, and Hawaii. After their children had grown, Ralph and Marjorie continued their travel tradition, cultivating a shared love for exploration and new experiences. They eventually settled in Alexandria in 1991, a place that captured their hearts during visits with their son, Mark.

Ralph was a multifaceted individual known for his boundless talents and kindness. He built every home the family lived in, meticulously managing every detail from plumbing to electrical work and designing blueprints. His outstanding skills were complemented by a personality that was engrained with generosity—he was always the first to lend a helping hand and could never refuse a request for assistance. Beyond his professional life, Ralph volunteered extensively within community sports programs and coached Church League Basketball. In quieter moments, he found joy in golfing and fishing. Ralph had many cherished dogs throughout his life; particularly, his beloved dog, Buddy held a special place in his heart.

After relocating to Alexandria, Ralph continued to teach at Alexandria Technical College, sharing his extensive knowledge of building with a new generation of students. His kindness, patience, and ability to listen made him a respected mentor and educator.

Ralph leaves behind his loving wife of 69 years, Marge; son, Mark (Paula) Losee; grandson, Bradley Losee; and brother, Jon Losee. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Julie Koubsky; and siblings, Lester, Martha, and Carol.

A service for Ralph will be held at a later date.
