Douglas Martin Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 3, 2025.
Douglas Alan Martin, age 58, of Waretown passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Doug was born in Clifton to Joan and Carl Martin. He was a painter by trade working for many years, most recently for T. Whitaker Painting. He was very active with the Southern Regional Marching Band painting and building their props for indoor and outdoor seasons, as well as traveling with them. In his spare time, he enjoyed BBQ's and being outdoors or working on mechanical projects. Doug's greatest passion was spending time with his family. Their house was a safe haven, and the door was always open.

Douglas was predeceased by his father, Carl Martin. He is survived by his wife Lynn (nee Bartis) of 37 years, their children: Andrew and his wife Alison, Leanna, and Bethany, his mother Joan VanderWende Martin and her husband George (Ike) Icenhower, his brother Kenneth and his wife Denise Nebbia, his sister Allison and her husband Donald Hansen. Doug is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Kristian, Josh, and Jenna, as well as many family and friends.

A Celebration of Douglas' Life will be held at a later date. Private cremation was directed by Riggs Funeral Home. The Southern Regional Marching Band Band Parent Association will be providing a scholarship in memory of Doug. Contributions towards said scholarship are welcomed and appreciated.
