Douglas Benjamin “Benny” McWatters, 68, of Clinton, South Carolina, passed away on October 25, 2025.
Benny was born on January 8, 1957, and most recently resided at NHC in Clinton, though he was formerly a longtime resident of 207 Beauregard Street in Clinton.
Benny will be remembered for his love of life, his deep loyalty to family and friends, and his passion for motorcycles. He was a charter member of the Sons of the South MC Cross Hill, where he shared countless miles and memories with his brothers. Benny also enjoyed deer hunting, watching racing and football, and spending time with those he loved most.
Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Douglas McWatters, his brother Barry McWatters, his sister Sherry McWatters, and his lifelong friend and partner in crime, Steve Sherfield.
He is survived by his son Brandon (Renae) McWatters; grandchildren Gage (Christin), Colt, and Bryer; sister-in-law, Deborah McWatters; nephew, Dale (Stacie) McWatters; nieces, Crystal (Jamie) McWatters, Natalie Cogsdill, and Becca (Tristen) Cogsdill; cousin, Earl McWatters; great-niece and nephews, Wyatt, Cabella, Wilkes, Belgian, Ryder, and Halston; and his close friend, Jeremy Marshall.
The family would like to give special thanks to NHC of Clinton for all of their care and compassion over the years, and to Caris of Greenwood for their care during Benny’s final days.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 27, 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton with Rev. Phil Bryson officiating. Burial will follow at the Rosemont Cemetery.
The family will greet visitors prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 PM at the funeral home, and will be at the home of his niece, Crystal McWatters, 301 Golden Acres Road, Clinton, SC 29325.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caris of Greenwood, 446 E. Cambridge Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646 or Sons of the South MC Cross Hill Christmas Toy Run, 1927 Bethabara Road, Cross Hill, SC 29332.
