Douglas Spencer Mickelson, born June 21, 1986, in Bountiful, Utah passed away on March 17, 2026, at the age of 39. Doug lived life on his own terms, navigating a path marked by both triumphs and challenges.
From a young age, Doug faced many struggles, notably battling substance abuse and sarcoma which later turned into lung and breast cancer. Despite these obstacles, he remained a kind-hearted individual who cared deeply for those around him.
Doug is survived by his loving family, including his brother Tyson (Michele), his sister Jamie Wing (Jory). He shared a significant part of his life with his ex-wife, Jamie Niitsuma, and held a special place in his heart for her daughter, Kylee.
He also had a special friend for many years Chelsee Anderton.
He had a passion for basketball and was a dedicated fan of the Dallas Cowboys, always cheering for his team with enthusiasm.
He leaves behind his devoted parents, Craig and Kerrie, as well as four nieces (Amelia, Emery, Annie and Lily) and three nephews (Lucas, Austin and Jaxtyn). His Grandparents Elliot and Zola Mickelson and Richard Anderson and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Rhea Anderson.
While his journey was not without pain, Doug’s memory will be cherished by his family and friends who will remember him for his kindness, fierce independence, and the love he shared. He will be deeply missed but always remembered for the impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday March 21st, 2026 at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, 1640 East Lakeview Dr., Bountiful, Utah.
A special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and police officers that participated in his care over the years.
