Douglas Montgomery

Douglas William Montgomery, age 69,of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
Doug was born on August 20, 1955, to parents William and Pauline (Fournier) Montgomery in Detroit, Michigan.
Doug was a beacon of hope to many of those in the Ann Arbor community struggling with mental illness as well as fighting addiction. Prior to retirement, he worked both for the Delonis Center in Ann Arbor–where he cared deeply for the less fortunate and as a complex case manager at the University of Michigan. Following work, Doug was a dedicated member of AA, being a sponsor, an active participant, and friend.
In his free time, Doug's greatest passion was sports. Baseball, golf, football, or basketball–if there was a fantasy league, he was a part of it. His love for the MSU Spartans ran deep, despite living in such proximity to, and working for, the enemy (Wolverines).
Doug is survived by his children, Megan Montgomery, Katie (Cory) Gibson, Erin Montgomery, Kelly (Michael) Luckhardt, Amanda (David) Denson, Jaime (Luke) Markham, Will (Lauren) Montgomery, and Zack (Jordyn) Montgomery. As well as his grandchildren, great-grandchild, brothers, sisters, and friends.
Service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Nie Funeral Homes, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48103. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm. A funeral service will begin at 6:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Doug would encourage donations be made to Shelter Association of Washtenaw County or Dawn Farm Treatment Programming.
