Douglas W. Myers of Maumee, Ohio passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio following a two year illness. He was born in Toledo, Ohio June 10, 1959 to Calvin and Dorothy (Peebles) Myers. He graduated from Fairview High School (Sherwood, OH). After high school he attended the University of Toledo and earned his Associate Degree in Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy Technology and then continued on at UT to earn his Bachelor of Science in Administrative Services. He then attended the University of Findlay and earned his Masters of Business Administration. Doug is survived by his wife Melanie (Koch) of 33 years, sons, Army Specialist Jared Myers and Jeffrey, parents Calvin and Dorothy and his sister Nancy of Maumee. He was preceded in death by his brother Jeffery. Prior to his illness Doug was employed with ProMedica for over twenty years. Most recently he was the Director of Respiratory Care at Bay Park Community Hospital. Prior to that he was one of the Respiratory Education Coordinators at The Toledo Hospital and before that, night shift supervisor at Flower Hospital. Doug was an avid Notre Dame fan. He also loved following sports that his boys played in during their youth and high school years and yelling at the referees for their horrible calls. He loved playing volleyball at WPOS, tinkering with cars, working outside, and snowplowing for the neighbors. Family and friends will be received at Maison-Dardenne Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH on Wednesday, November 9th from 2PM to 8PM. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday November 10th at 11:00 AM at Garden Park Christian Church 8605 Salisbury Road, Monclova, OH. Memorials may be sent to Fifth Third Bank in Maumee or the funeral home for a scholarship fund to assist his boys with their college degrees which was very important to him.
