Funeral services for Douglas “Doug” Olson, 89, of Renville, formerly of Cottonwood, are pending.
Douglas “Doug” Arthur Olson was born on December 12, 1936, in Cottonwood, to Arthur and Lillian (Radunz) Olson. Doug grew up in Cottonwood and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1957. After graduation, Doug worked for local farmers and later for Smith and Johnson Trucking. He spent 33 years as the tire man at the Cottonwood Co-op before his retirement in 1997. In his free time, Doug enjoyed fishing and following Minnesota sports. He also enjoyed driving around checking on farmers in the fields while listening to WCCO talk radio. In his younger years, he was a member of a bowling league. He moved to the RenVilla nursing home in 2019, where he enjoyed sitting outside reading the paper, people watching, and soaking up the sun.
Doug died on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the RenVilla nursing home in Renville. He is survived by his children Teresa Olson, Todd Olson, and Travis Olson; siblings Arthur Olson, Jr., Dorothy Malley, and Michael Olson; as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant daughters.
