Douglas or Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Proctor's Mortuary - Beaumont on Mar. 3, 2026.
Douglas Juan West Jr. "Mister" or "Lil West" 38 of Beaumont, TX: passed Mar. 01, 2026.

Services are Saturday Mar. 21, 2026 at Ebenezer Baptist Church 675 College St. Beaumont, TX. Visitation will begin at 10AM until Funeral at 12Noon.

Douglas Juan West Jr., affectionately known as "Mister" or "Lil West," was born on April 16, 1987, in Galveston, Texas, to Douglas Juan West Sr. and Tonya Lynn Thibodeaux-Waters.

Douglas graduated from Clifton J. Ozen High School in 2005. As a youth, he attended Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church with his grandmother, lovingly known as "Bae Bae," under the leadership of the late Rev. H. H. High.

Douglas was known for his caring and selfless heart. He faithfully served as a caregiver to his Nanny Londa, his Momo Celestine, and his Papa Thibo, always making sure they were cared for with love and dedication. Douglas never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Mister never met a stranger and could light up any room with his jokes and contagious laugh. One of his favorite routines was visiting his barber of 26 years, Andre Carter, twice a week. He also made daily stops at his Uncle Kim West's home. Both places became special gathering spots where he enjoyed talking about politics, sports "especially his beloved Denver Broncos, and everything in between. Just a few weeks ago, Mister attended his first NBA basketball game with his brother Mike, which he described as one of the greatest moments of his life.

Douglas' greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends during holidays and special occasions. He would often arrive with his hat tilted to the side, sunshades on, and three stacked cups to keep his ice chilled. He had a nickname or a special way of saying everyone's name, and he never left without reminding those around him that he loved them.

Douglas entered his eternal rest on March 1, 2026, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas, surrounded by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ernest Thibodeaux Sr. and Emmett Jones Sr.; great-grandparents Cornelius and Lucille Collins, Sam and Wilhemina West, and Charles and Margaret Jones; aunt Carol Lynn Vaughn; and Uncle Charles Earl Jones.

Those left to cherish and celebrate his memory include his parents, Douglas West Sr. and Byron & Tonya Waters; his siblings, Derrick West (Latashja), Michael Guillory II., Richelle Brooks, and Jasmine Kennedy (Brian); his god-brother, Anderson Green; his grandparents, Celestine Thibodeaux and Bruce & Carolyn Vaughn; his uncles, Kim West, Gregory Collins, Ernest Thibodeaux Jr. (Genene), Brian Thibodeaux (Shermaine), Rudy Brown , and Emmett Jones Jr.; his aunts, Yolonda Thibodeaux, Debra Thibodeaux, Charron Jones, Margaret Williford (Chris), Samantha West, Alicha Vaughn Edison (Dannan), Cosalind Frank, Nicole Jones, Bruchell Washington (Nicholas), and Sharon Jason (Ricky); great-uncles Cornelius Collins (Pam}, William Collins, Gilbert Collins (Harriet), Robert Collins, Samuel Collins, and Nathaniel Collins (Karen); great-aunts Florence Ann Mayhall, Josephine Lewis, Rose Jones, Mary Holloway, and Armead Atkinson; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
