Douglas Reason Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand on Jan. 24, 2026.
Mr. Douglas Roy Reason, Sr., of LaGrange, passed away surrounded by his family on January 23, 2026. He was born in LaGrange on September 2, 1944.
Roy was a devoted husband of 59 years, a loving daddy and Papa. As a teenager, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior whom he spent a lifetime serving. He faithfully served in church as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and a servant in any other needed areas. He has been a dedicated member of Restoration Chapel in LaGrange. He was always full of joy, smiling, cracking jokes, and he never met a stranger. He was never ashamed to share and discuss the Gospel.
He graduated from Troup High School in May of 1963 and was drafted into the U.S. Army a few months later. He served in Germany during the Vietnam conflict where he received a National Defense Service Medal and Marksman Medal. Once he returned home, he began his career encompassing multiple trades including welding, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and industrial maintenance. He retired from Interface Flooring in 2012. His greatest love was spending time with his family. He was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed cookouts, fishing, boating, and camping, but his favorite hobby and pastime was collecting and watching movies. He faithfully yelled at the Atlanta Falcons every Sunday since they came to Atlanta. He bravely fought multiple myeloma for over 13 years where he continually proved to the doctors he was a miracle.
Mr. Reason is survived by his wife, soulmate, caregiver, and best friend, Dale Yancey Reason; his children, Kim Fuller (Jeff) and Doug Reason Jr.(Stephanie); his siblings, Micah Reason (Cristal), Martha Casinger, Judy McCormick, Wade Reason (Diane), Tim Reason (Deanna), and Jana Dudley (Curtis); his grandchildren, Brett Fuller (Abbey), Justen Fuller (Amber Caldwell), and Allyson Pike (Brady); his great-grandchildren, Lexi, Carsten, Ryder, Hadalynn, Madison, Natalie, Aden, Anna Grace, and Emmie; his 5 bonus grandchildren, Tiffany, Rachel, Jeremy, Nathan, and Emily; his 5 bonus-great-grandchildren, T.J., Asah, Ansleigh, Ashlynn, Kurtis, and Annie; and numerous nephews, nieces, extended family, and grand-pups.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy McVeigh; his step-father, Harold McVeigh; his father, Hiram Blair Reason; his stepmother, Nancy Reason; his deceased siblings, Sandra Bates, Johnny Reason, Penny, Becky, Ruthie, and Larry; and his bonus great-grandchild, Andrew Roy.
