Douglas Franklin Richards, age 69, passed away on March 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Doug was born August 13, 1956, and grew up in New Buffalo, Michigan. He spent much of his life in Michigan City, Indiana, where he built a reputation as a skilled and dedicated mason. His craftsmanship can be found in countless homes and buildings throughout the community, lasting reflections of his hard work and steady hands.
Doug lived a simple and honest life and found great joy in the outdoors. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman, often happiest when he was deep in the woods or out on the water. Those who knew him will remember his easygoing nature, quiet sense of humor, and deep loyalty to the people he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gary Franklin and Phillis Marie Richards; and his son, Eric Cihak-Walters.
