Douglas M. Riggie Sr. 84, died on Monday January 6, 2025, at his home in Woodsville, NH. He was born in Woodsville, on June 3, 1940, to David and Arlene (Henderson) Riggie. He graduated from Wells River High School in 1958.
He joined the NH National Guard and after completing basic training went on to barber school. He worked for some time locally as a barber before finding work in the paper mills in Ryegate and Lincoln. In retirement he worked as courier at Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank
Doug enjoyed photography and built his own dark room at his house. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and attending his grandchildren's sporting events, as well as walks next to the river on Abbott Ave, keeping the local wildlife well fed, and his morning trips to McDonalds for breakfast with friends.
He is predeceased by his parents; wife, Carol (Adams) Riggie, and a brother David Riggie. He is survived by two sons, Patrick Riggie and Doug Riggie Jr. a daughter Shauna Walker and husband Jamie. He was "Bumpa" to his three grandchildren, Brendan, Ryan, and Makayla Walker. He is also survived by three nephews, Mike, Mark, and Keary Riggie.
There will be a graveside service for Doug and Carol on Saturday June 14, 2025, at 1PM at Pine Grove Cemetery, Swiftwater Rd, Woodsville, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Woodsville Area Booster Club (WABC), 9 High Street, Woodsville, NH 03785
