Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith Funeral Home-Keyser Chapel on Dec. 5, 2025.
Douglas Ray Rinard, 66, of
Keyser, WV entered the gates of heaven unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
Doug was born on June 1, 1959, in
Keyser, WV. He graduated from Keyser High School and the Mineral County Technical Center. He was employed as a journeyman mechanic for Dominion Power in Mount Storm, and later
Bayard, WV for 35 years.
Doug never met a stranger, and he was always the first one to step up and lend a helping hand to someone in need. He was a proud father, a loving husband, and the epitome of what every child wants their grandfather to be! His desire to help others never went unnoticed. He didn't seek recognition. He never wanted to be in the spotlight; but his generosity knew no limits. Throughout his life, Doug took pride in helping the local community. His support for the Mineral County 4-H and FFA members was appreciated by all. He could always be seen around the barns, doing whatever it was that needed to be done, or just keeping everyone in line and ensuring that the processes ran as smoothly as possible. He enjoyed sharing the bountiful harvest from his garden and cherished all of his interactions during the weekly farmer's market. He worked cohesively with his wife to make We Believe Farms, Baking & Produce a huge success. More recently, Doug became an active member of Mount Zion Church. He faithfully attended the weekly tailgate service, and, alongside his wife, recently rededicated his heart to Jesus. He enjoyed greeting others as they drove onto the field for the services. During the recent floods and natural disasters in Tennessee and North Carolina, Doug didn't hesitate to volunteer his time and effort to arrange and deliver donations to the victims. "Here I am, Lord. Send me."
Doug enjoyed the outdoors and cherished every minute he could spend hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. Oh, the stories that could be told if the walls of the hunting shanty or the banks of the dam could talk! During the summer, he could be found spending long hours tending to his garden and his precious tomatoes. Doug will be remembered by his infectious smile, his caring demeanor, his humble, selfless acts of kindness, and his willingness to help others. Most of all, Doug will be remembered for the love and dedication he displayed for his wife and his family.
In addition to his wife, Kimberly, Doug is survived by his children, Brittney (Serge) and Wesley (Amanda), his mother-in-law, Esther Hayes, his sister, Jeanie Mitchell, his brother, Jerry Cook, and Andres Roblero (of California), who was like a son to him. He also leaves behind the absolute lights of his life, his grandchildren: Jeremiah, Jabari, Jayvyn, Gavin, and Abigail and his two adopted grandsons: Andrew Iser (Shawnee) and Adam Iser (Kelsie). Also left to grieve are many special friends, too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Mildred Cook, his father-in-law, Ervin "Bunk" Hayes, and his infant grandson, Kendrick Babo.
Per his wishes, Doug will be cremated and there will be no public funeral services. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Mount Zion Church, on Knobley Road. Family will accept friends from 12pm-1pm, with the service following at 1pm, with Pastor Jerry Eisenhour officiating.
The family wishes to thank all of their friends for the overwhelming amount of love and support that has been shown.
In leu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made to
Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
