Doug was my best friend and he often reminded me that I was his. We had many great times together over the 15 years of friendship, including most recently while attending a Christmas special at the Broomfield Symphony Orchestra the evening of December 14th. I am blessed to have spent that recent time with him. He has left a void in my life that will never be filled, like that empty chair at the dining room table, reserved always for him. The talks, the laughs, the grumpiness, the advice, the help, the moments shared. I miss it all. I miss him dearly.

Knowing Doug meant sharing his love of nature, science, animals and the Universe. His curiosity had no bounds and he was always open to new ideas and concepts. My friend was always kind, always honest, always true to himself. I will dearly miss our conversations and sharing books. The world is a lot dimmer without Doug. I love you, buddy.

Doug, Kelvin's mom gave me a memento that says "friends are our chosen family". Your friends still love you. You will be missed for the particular and special times you shared with each of us. Until we meet again...

We were Doug´s neighbors for many years. He was a gentle, interesting, kind, brilliant man. He took our grandson on a hike to experience the beauty of the trail he had built behind his house. His many improvements on his property included the weather gizmo in the front yard and a new fashioned mailbox. He was excited to show off the remodeled kitchen that his niece designed several years ago. This acreage was his most loved possession.
We will miss him.

Doug was a close friend of mine for 3 decades. I will miss talking about science and nature and his astute observations about the world we shared. Now he is one with the cosmos which surely makes him very happy. Goodbye my friend.
