Douglas Michael Wasik, 80, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025. He was the loving and devoted husband of Cecile E. (Champagne) Wasik for 54 blessed years.
Doug was born in New Britain, CT on September 6, 1944 to the late Edward and Marion (Perzan) Wasik. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1965 – 1969 during the Vietnam War.
Doug worked as a lineman at CL&P, retiring after 34 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and tending to his veggie gardens but more than anything else, Doug was dedicated to his family and was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, sharing his love for the Lord with everyone that came across his path.
In addition to his wife Cecile, Doug is survived by two children, one son, Michael Wasik and his wife Jennifer and one daughter, Beth Schmidt and four grandchildren, Bethany Boisvert and her husband Noah, Jameson and Rylynn Schmidt and Jake Wasik. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Judy Wasik, Gloria Albino (Art Lanesc) and Jeannie Goudreault, brother-in-law, Lee Champagne and his wife Judy and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Wasik, sisters-in-law, Lucy Grohman, Rita Brouillard and her husband Armand and brother-in-law, Henry Goudreault.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s memory may be made to the Oasis of Life Christian Church, 945 Cromwell Ave #G, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or to Compass Church, 88 Hawthorne Dr., Berlin, CT 06037.
Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial with military honors will follow in the State Veteran’s Cemetery, 317 Bow Ln., Middletown.
