Douglas E. Waymire, 61, of Poland Street, Swoyersville, died Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family after a three-year courageous battle of pancreatic cancer.
Born in Hawaii, April 6, 1963, he was the son of the late Eugene and Marian Ziskosky Waymire. He graduated from Westside Tech.
He was employed in the grocery industry for many years. He was formerly employed by Luzerne County Building and Grounds. He resided in Swoyersville for the past 54 years.
He and his wife, Elizabeth "Beth," would have celebrated their 33rd anniversary on Sept. 14, 2024.
He was the most loving husband, father, uncle and poppy anyone could have asked for and will be missed by all who knew him. His four granddaughters were the light of his life. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR fan. His most recent favorite thing was going to the Grille and Saturday pizza with his brother-in-law Larry's family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Edward Napierkowski.
Doug is survived by his wife of 33 years, the former Elizabeth "Beth" Napierkowski; children, Caitlin Fritz (Bradley), Benton and Holly Hodgson (Justin), Sweet Valley; granddaughters, Lynzee, Kaylee, Brynlee and Maddison; sister, Debbie Tressa (Joe), Swoyersville; mother-in-law, Dorothy Napierkowski, Wilkes-Barre; brother-in-law, Edward Napierkowski (Rae), Shavertown; and Larry Napierkowski (Christine), Shavertown; and numerous nieces and nephew.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to Hugh B. Hughes & Son, Inc., Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Galasso and staff, Allied Hospice Care, for making Doug comfortable at home until his passing

I am sorry for your loss. I went to high school with Doug and played basketball with him. Doug was a kind person, he will be missed.
